Short answer
GoHighLevel is a flat $97 a month for unlimited users, with SMS, calling, email and AI billed per use on top, and it is built for agencies running many client accounts. HubSpot starts at $20 per seat on Starter, but the features most teams grow into (WhatsApp, SMS, sequences, transcripts) sit on Professional plans that cost $90 per seat or $800 a month and up, with a $1,500 to $3,000 onboarding fee. As of October 20, 2026, GoHighLevel is cheaper for most small teams; HubSpot is easier to start free and easier to scale into a large B2B company.
This guide is for owners and small teams (roughly 1 to 20 people) choosing between the two. We read both vendors’ pricing pages, HubSpot’s product catalog and GoHighLevel’s help center on October 20, 2026, and every figure below links to the page it came from. Usage prices change often, so check the live pages before you buy. UnifyLoop makes a competing product, and we say where it fits at the end; the first part of this article is about GoHighLevel and HubSpot only.
What is the main difference between GoHighLevel and HubSpot?
GoHighLevel is a do-everything marketing platform priced per account, and HubSpot is a CRM platform priced per seat. GoHighLevel (also called HighLevel) is built for agencies: each client gets its own sub-account, and the higher plans let you white-label the whole thing and resell it as your own software (GoHighLevel pricing). Even the $97 Starter plan bundles websites, funnels, CRM, calendars, email, SMS, calling and payments, with unlimited users and contacts.
HubSpot sells “hubs” (Marketing, Sales, Service, Content, Data, Revenue) on one shared CRM. You can start on free tools or $20 Starter seats and move up to Professional and Enterprise without switching systems (HubSpot Customer Platform pricing). It leans toward B2B companies that win customers through content, email and a sales team, and it has a large app marketplace around it.
In practice: GoHighLevel gives you more tools for less money, with a steeper setup and per-use bills. HubSpot gives you a gentler start and a longer runway, but the price climbs fast once you need Professional features.
How much do GoHighLevel and HubSpot cost for a team of 5?
For five people, GoHighLevel’s Starter plan is $97 a month and HubSpot ranges from $100 a month (five Starter seats) to well over $1,000 a month on Professional. GoHighLevel does not charge per user, so five people cost the same as one. HubSpot’s free tools are capped at 2 users (HubSpot free CRM), so a team of five has to pay.
| Plan | Monthly price for 5 people | One-time fee | First-year total |
|---|---|---|---|
| GoHighLevel Starter, monthly | $97 (unlimited users) | None required | $1,164 ($97 × 12), plus usage |
| GoHighLevel Starter, annual | About $80.83 ($970 a year) | None required | $970, plus usage |
| HubSpot Starter Customer Platform | $100 (5 × $20 list) | None | $1,200 ($100 × 12) |
| HubSpot Sales Hub Professional | $450 (5 × $90, annual commitment) | $1,500 onboarding | $6,900 ($450 × 12 + $1,500) |
| HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional | $890 ($800 base with 3 seats + 2 × $45) | $3,000 onboarding | $13,680 ($890 × 12 + $3,000) |
| HubSpot Professional Customer Platform | $1,300 (includes 6 seats) | Not published | $15,600 ($1,300 × 12), before any onboarding |
HubSpot’s Starter seats were on a new-customer promotion at $10 a seat monthly or $7 paid upfront when we checked, and Professional plans need an annual commitment even if you pay monthly (HubSpot Sales pricing). Marketing Hub also charges by marketing-contact tier: Professional includes 2,000 marketing contacts, and extra contacts cost $250 per 5,000 at the first step (HubSpot product catalog).
The usage fees on top
GoHighLevel’s subscription is only part of the bill. Email, phone, WhatsApp and most AI are paid per use from a wallet (GoHighLevel pricing guide):
- Email: $0.675 per 1,000 emails, or connect your own SMTP (pricing guide).
- Phone: US local numbers $1.15 a month, outbound calls $0.0166 a minute, inbound $0.01165, SMS $0.00747 per segment plus carrier fees (phone pricing). Carrier fees rose on October 1, 2026 (changelog).
- US texting needs A2P 10DLC registration: $22.50 or $64 one time, plus about $1.50 to $10.50 a month (A2P fees).
- Call recording $0.0025 a minute; transcripts are a “Voice Intelligence” add-on at $0.024 per recorded minute (phone pricing).
- WhatsApp: $10 a month per sub-account plus Meta’s per-message fees (WhatsApp pricing).
- AI Employee: $50 or $97 a month per sub-account, or pay per use (AI pricing).
- Premium workflow actions: 100 free runs per sub-account, then $0.01 each or a Workflow Pro bundle from $10 a month (workflow pricing).
HubSpot bundles more into the seat price but meters in other ways. Calling minutes are included (500 a month on Starter, 3,000 on Sales Pro), SMS is a $75-a-month add-on with 1,000 segments on Pro and up, and extra WhatsApp messages are $70 a month per 1,000 (HubSpot add-ons). AI agents run on monthly HubSpot Credits, and when credits run out those features pause unless overages are on (HubSpot Credits).
GoHighLevel vs HubSpot features: what does each include?
Both cover the basics of a CRM, but GoHighLevel puts nearly everything on its lowest plan while HubSpot spreads features across hubs and tiers. The table shows the lowest plan where each feature appears.
| Feature | GoHighLevel | HubSpot |
|---|---|---|
| Website and funnels | Yes, Starter: website and funnel builder, split testing, checkout (pricing) | Websites and landing pages from free (30 each, branded); no multi-step funnel builder listed (free tools) |
| Email marketing | Yes, Starter, at $0.675 per 1,000 sends (guide) | Free: 2,000 sends a month with HubSpot branding; more on Marketing Hub (free tools) |
| Add-on: $10 a month per sub-account plus Meta fees (WhatsApp) | Marketing or Service Hub Professional and up; 1,000 messages a month included (HubSpot KB) | |
| SMS | Yes, Starter, pay per segment; A2P registration for US (phone) | Add-on: $75 a month on Pro and up, US senders only (add-ons) |
| Calling | Yes, Starter, pay per minute; power dialer runs from task queues (dialer) | Starter: 500 minutes a month; power dialer in beta (calling) |
| Recording and transcripts | Recording per minute; transcripts $0.024 a minute add-on (transcripts) | Recording from Starter; transcription from Professional (catalog) |
| Booking pages | Yes, Starter, can take payment (pricing) | Free: 1 meeting link; Starter: unbranded links (catalog) |
| Pipelines | Yes, Starter (pricing) | Free: 1 per object; Starter 15; Pro 100 (catalog) |
| Custom objects | All plans, up to 10 per sub-account (changelog) | Enterprise only (catalog) |
| Workflow automation | Yes, Starter; premium actions metered (workflows) | Limited on Starter; 300 workflows on Pro (catalog) |
| AI | Conversation AI, Voice AI, AI Employee and more, paid per use or per sub-account (AI pricing) | Breeze assistant on all plans; agents use credits (catalog) |
| Mobile app | Free LeadConnector app; white-label app $497 a month (app) | iOS and Android on every plan, free included (free tools) |
| Public API | Basic on Starter; advanced on the $497 plan (API) | Every plan, including free (limits) |
| Gmail and Outlook sync | Yes, two-way, one-to-one email (Gmail, Outlook) | Yes, free (free tools) |
| Free plan | No; 14-day trial (pricing) | Yes: 2 users, 1,000 contacts (free CRM) |
Two rows decide a lot of these comparisons. Texting: GoHighLevel was built around SMS for local marketing, while HubSpot treats it as a paid add-on on Professional plans. Custom objects: GoHighLevel gives them to everyone; HubSpot keeps them on Enterprise, with 10 more costing $500 a month (add-ons).
Is GoHighLevel or HubSpot easier to use?
HubSpot is generally the easier one to start with, and GoHighLevel takes more setup. HubSpot’s free tools let one or two people try the CRM, email, a website and a meeting link with no time limit (free tools). GoHighLevel asks you to build more yourself: wire up workflows, register for US texting (A2P 10DLC), connect a phone number and choose what to pay for per use. Its own help center lists an optional $1,000 “Advanced Account Setup” service for teams that want help (pricing guide). HubSpot’s setup help is not optional on Professional: Sales Hub Pro carries a $1,500 onboarding fee and Marketing Hub Pro $3,000 (HubSpot Marketing pricing).
Who should choose GoHighLevel?
Choose GoHighLevel if you are an agency or a local business that markets by text and phone and wants every tool on one flat bill.
- Marketing agencies. Sub-accounts per client, white-label, and on the $497 plan, SaaS Mode to sell your own plans and rebill usage with a markup (pricing). HubSpot has nothing built for this.
- SMS-heavy local marketing. Appointment reminders, review requests and text follow-ups for dentists, gyms, home services and similar businesses, with pay-per-segment pricing on the lowest plan (phone pricing).
- Growing teams on a budget. Unlimited users and contacts on every plan, so hiring does not raise the subscription (pricing).
- Funnel builders. Multi-step funnels, order forms and checkout from Starter, which HubSpot does not offer as a funnel tool.
The catch: you pay usage on top, prices for texts and calls changed several times in 2026, and you need patience for setup.
Who should choose HubSpot?
Choose HubSpot if you are a B2B company that wins customers through content and a sales process, and you expect to grow into a larger organization.
- Inbound and content-led B2B. Blog, website, email and landing pages tied to the same contact records, and more pages, blogs and testing on Content Hub (catalog).
- Teams that want an ecosystem. API access on every plan, Gmail and Outlook sync from free, and a large app marketplace (technical limits).
- Companies planning to scale. The same CRM runs from free to Enterprise, with custom objects on Enterprise, so you do not have to migrate later (Customer Platform pricing).
- Very small teams starting out. Two people can run on the free tools indefinitely (free CRM).
The catch: costs rise quickly with seats, contacts and tiers, Professional plans lock you into a year, and WhatsApp, SMS and transcripts all need Professional.
A third option if neither fits
If GoHighLevel feels like agency software you will not use half of, and HubSpot Professional is out of budget, UnifyLoop (the company writing this guide) sits between them. It is one flat fee per workspace with unlimited users: Free at $0 for up to 3 users, Starter at $49 a month and Growth at $99, billed monthly with no onboarding fee and no contract (UnifyLoop pricing).
- Included on Starter: built-in calling with 500 minutes, a power dialer, recording and transcripts; WhatsApp through Meta’s official Cloud API with your own Meta app, so you pay Meta directly with no markup; email campaigns from your own domain; booking pages; pipelines; custom objects (on Free too); a website builder, funnels with Stripe checkout, and AI automations you review before they run.
- Not available: SMS (coming later, through your own Twilio account), Instagram and Messenger, Gmail or Outlook mailbox sync, mobile apps, a public API, white-label or reselling. If you need any of those today, GoHighLevel or HubSpot is the better pick.
- WhatsApp in the US: Meta has paused delivery of WhatsApp marketing templates to US numbers since April 2025, for every provider (Brevo help center). Conversations, replies and utility messages still work.

Questions people ask
Is GoHighLevel cheaper than HubSpot?
For most teams of three or more, yes. GoHighLevel Starter is $97 a month for unlimited users, while HubSpot Starter is $20 per seat and Professional plans run from $90 per seat or $800 a month, plus a $1,500 to $3,000 onboarding fee. GoHighLevel adds usage fees for texts, calls, email and AI, so heavy texters should estimate those too.
Does GoHighLevel have a free plan like HubSpot?
No. GoHighLevel offers a 14-day free trial on every plan, and billing starts automatically when it ends. HubSpot has a free plan with no time limit for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts.
Can I use WhatsApp in GoHighLevel and HubSpot?
Yes, on both, but at different price points. GoHighLevel charges $10 a month per sub-account plus Meta’s message fees. HubSpot needs Marketing Hub or Service Hub Professional, which includes 1,000 WhatsApp messages a month. On either one, Meta does not deliver WhatsApp marketing templates to US numbers.
Which is better for agencies, GoHighLevel or HubSpot?
GoHighLevel. It gives each client a sub-account, supports white-labeling, and on the $497 plan lets you resell it as your own software and mark up usage. HubSpot has no built-in way to run and rebill many client accounts from one login.
Which is better for B2B sales teams?
HubSpot, if the budget allows Professional. It ties content, email and sales sequences to one CRM, has Gmail and Outlook sync and an API on every plan, and scales to Enterprise without a migration. GoHighLevel can run a sales pipeline, but it is built around local marketing and agencies.
Is there a cheaper alternative to both with calling and WhatsApp included?
UnifyLoop, which wrote this guide, is $49 a month flat for unlimited users with built-in calling, recording, transcripts and WhatsApp included. It does not have SMS, mobile apps, a public API or Gmail and Outlook sync yet, so check those against your needs.
